Ruusamäe Creative House
Location: Porsa, Estonia
Phase: Outline proposal
Project: 2018
Construction: TBD
Size: 260m²
The project is a creative house placed on the historic stone-wall foundation of a barn building. The creative house is designed for different types of professionals to get together to exchange ideas and carry out workshops among colleagues and partners. While keeping the original barn volume intact, the building has been extended with a new perpendicular volume that stretches along the valley of the Tarvastu River. The facades of the building are clad with vertical wooden siding that is characteristic to the buildings rural environment. The old stone wall structures are preserved as much as possible and will serve as a reminder of the old barn structures. Partly, the facades are covered with perforated metal sheets that both provide shading and give a traditional motive of the place. The building is equipped with large windows, opening views over the picturesque landscape.
